Hope Starts Here is a team of advocates and champions leading the charge for Detroit’s early childhood systems.

Founded on November 10, 2016, Hope Starts Here began at an event at the Michigan Science Center. This kickoff started our process of bringing together thousands of Detroiters to activate the Hope Starts Here blueprint.

2016-2017
The Formative Years

The Hope Starts Here initiative began, along with the creation of Strategy Teams and the Stewardship Board for reporting oversight.

2018-2019
Building The Foundation

Six months in the making, The Strategy Teams and Hope Starts Here finalize the 10-year framework, action plan and success factors.

2020 & Beyond
Implementation

The Hope Starts Here office and implementation teams are launched to make sure that Detroit is a city that puts children first.

Hope Starts Here, along with more than 18,000 Detroiters, believe every child deserves an equal chance to succeed. Through affordable and equitable access to quality services, resources and education, we utilize proven methods to forge a path for early childhood success. Our network and impact continue to grow.
