To better understand the cost of early childhood care and education services and identify funding gaps in Detroit, Hope Starts Here is undertaking a financial analysis project, and we need your help.
You can be part of the solution by responding to this confidential survey and sharing information about your program’s typical expenditures, such as personnel costs (staffing, salaries, and benefits) and your program’s ideal expenses if fully funded. Responses are strictly confidential, and you will be helping to inform Detroit’s decisions about future funding for the early childhood system.
The survey results will assist the Prenatal to Five Fiscal Strategies, a national leader in child care finance, policy, and research, in developing a cost model based on the actual costs of providing quality care to children rather than the price families can pay.
Quick Tips for Completing the Survey
- Have the owner, program director, or financial managers complete the survey.
- One survey per site (if you run multiple sites, please complete a separate survey for each site.
- Because we ask for financial information, gather your expense statements and the previous year’s budget before answering the questions.
- For family child care providers, the questions are similar to the IRS Schedule C form, so you should have your most recent Schedule C handy.
- Once you have your expense and budget information compiled for reference, the survey only takes 15-20 minutes.
All information provided is completely confidential and will not be shared with anyone outside the P5 Fiscal Strategies project team.
If you have questions or want more information, please visit the Prenatal to 5 Fiscal Strategies website or email info@prenatal5fiscal.org.
