The Second Round of Stabilization Grants to be Announced this Month

If you missed the opportunity to apply for the Fall 2021 Stabilization Grants, all is not lost. The Spring 2022 application process is expected to be announced later this month.

Through the federal American Rescue Plan, Michigan was awarded $700 million to provide financial assistance to help childcare providers pay expenses incurred during the pandemic. This is a non-competitive grant for childcare providers to help stabilize operations and support the health and safety of children and staff.

In Wayne County, an area identified as highest in need with 1,103 total providers, more than 784 applications were received during the Fall application period with close to $57,000,000 in grants awarded.

You can apply if you are a:

  • Licensed childcare center
  • Licensed family and group homes
  • Tribal-based childcare
  • Head Start and Great Start Readiness Program (GSRP) program that also provide tuition-based childcare

Eligible applicants must also be open and available to provide childcare services on the date of application OR temporarily closed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

As Laurie explains, the application process was easy, and the benefits are many.
